VCCA Home

Right now I am ready to stop messing with VCCA.

- The Forum Link on the "new" VCCA homepage goes to the old Chatter site.
- I used my VCCA member number to log in, not my email like the header states. I had to go through a password reset.
- I finally found a link to the "new" forum. Am I correct that none of the old content transferred to the new Chat?

Right. At this point the on the new site it appears that the avatars, VCCA logo for VCCA members, the number of posts that each member has made, the old user name that appears above the avatar are not available. The private message feature does not seem to be activated either as well as the "add signature" feature. beer2 please

Hi Rusty

I had a h*** of a time getting in too.
Wasn't able to get in to reset my password,
finally just went the "forgot your password" route,
that sent a message to my email that just linked me right back to the same page.

Finally, I think I just lucked into getting in.
Then FINALLY found the spot to reload my avatar and add the signature etc.

And when I was all done,
the avatar resolution is HORRIBLE, and trims the edges back to the point where it really isn't the picture I added.

Haven't figured out yet if I can modify the layout to something more suitable to my own reading tastes like we could here.

Think I'm going to miss the old site. 🙂

Where was the spot on the new site that you were able to activate your avatar and the added signature? beer2 bonk

Hi Skip

I clicked on "Forums" in the blue bar at the top of the page,
then across the gray bar just below the Filling Station logo to "My Profile" and drag down to "Account" and clicked there.

Then a recognizable format shows up to change things.

"Display Name" is where you will want to put your old handle.

The avatar is trickier.
The resolution is terrible, and it trimmed the edges of what I added something terrible.

Good luck!

I did that as shown on the screen shot however, when I get to my account the "edit account information" is not there. That whole area is grayed out. beer2 bonk

I don't know how I finally got into the new VCCA site. It finally worked after I tried three times to get the email to reset my password. Hope it gets better soon.

Chipper, same here except it took six tries. Caught in some kind of a loop!

Initally it took me about 10 to 12 tries to log into the new site with a new username and password. Now, I don't log out for fear of going through that same hassle again. Also the new site is extremely difficult to navigate. This old site was a lot more user friendly. I feel sorry for the guys that are not computer savy that are trying to use the new site. beer2 bonk

Hi JunkyardDog

I too had the same trouble getting in.
Got stuck in some kind of loop like ruscar.
I tried the "forgot my password" thing, but it kept sending me an email that just linked me back to the same page I started from.
I too don't really know how I finally got past everything.

When I finally figured out how to add an avatar and edit my profile, it worked!
That may have been because I had already made a few posts by then.

Anyway, I was scared to log out too, but tried it anyway.

Good news!
I got back in using my email address and my new/old password!

Cool! Glad that somehow things worked for you. I never log out, even on the old site I always stayed logged in. I tried using my old password but it didn't work so I had to reset my password to a new password and I did that numerous times before I was finally able to log in. On the new site the Forum and Topics buttons still don't work and the "Make All Read" feature doesn't work either. Hopefully Peter will get all of this fixed. beer2 bonk

This thread shouldn't have been possible. Since it is I'll try to help. This is a learning process for all of us and Peter is busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. JYD, Rusty, there are two ways I'm aware of to edit your details and add an avatar on the new site. At the top right of any page you're on, on the new site, should be your user name. Hover your pointer over that and Edit Profile should be part of the context menu. Click it. 2: To the left of any post you make, where your user name is, click the down arrow. One of the icons that appears should be a gear icon that says "Account" when you hover over it. Click that. Both take you to the page where you make those changes/additions.

As for the log in. I too went in the loop. I tried using my email and member number to no avail. I got frustrated and went to bed. The next morning I tried again and actually got the reset password page. You will have to reset your password BUT you can "reset" it to your original password, at least I was able to. I know it's frustrating. It WILL be different from what we're used to. The fact remains UBB Threads is dead. There is NO support. It WILL eventually break and not be repairable. When that happens all will be lost. Would it be better to wait until then or transition now?? The fact that Peter has set the parameters of this form to not allow posts from anyone other than admins and mods but posting in some places is still possible shows how buggy UBB Threads is. It's held together with bubble gum and zip ties. Eventually, sooner more than later, all posting here will stop. We all have two choices. Adapt or give in. The choice is yours. Edit: It does get better as you get used to it and discover how things work.
