Hello! I have dear friends that have an interested buyer in their gorgeous cherry red 1951 Chevrolet Styleline, but they were asked where the ID plate was located, and they do not know. Please help if you are able to, thank you very much!!

My understanding is that in 1951 the serial plate was placed on the left windshield pillar. You had to open the door to see it.

Here a few comments about serial plates on older classic cars.
- There was no standard serial/id number format for these older cars. Every manufacturer had their own system.
- The number on a title or registration for these classic cars could actually be the engine serial number.
- Every state has different regulations regarding how they issue registrations and titles for these classic cars.
