I just picked up a '51 Styleline Special this past week. I have the Chevrolet Passenger Car Shop Manual but was wondering if there is a more modern, detailed manual for just the stovebolt engine alone. I saw a rebuild manual that looked great online but it was for 1954 on up.

Thanks for any leads.

Google “Chevy 6 rebuild manuals”. I agree that while the shop manual is a necessary resource, it does not contain the “how” details. Shop manuals are typically written for experienced mechanics.

The after-market manuals tend to show more “tips and tricks” about what tools to use and how to dis-assemble/assemble without damage.
