Hello All,
The forum post titled: 'Clutch Plate Conundrums for our 1929 Phaeton.', needed to remove and replace their pilot BUSHING and wanted suggestions on how to remove it not having the proper tool for the job. Pounding in GREASE or BREAD was suggested to push the bushing rearward and out. That did not work in their case. Removal came after tapping threads into bushing to grab hold and pull bushing out. I think that the grease or bread use may have worked if it had been a pilot BEARING. The surface area to push against is larger with the bearing. Check out the youtube video by Coldwarmotors titled 'New engine for the 1969 Ford Fairlane', from 5:45 to 6:40. You will see pilot BEARING removal using bread. Edit: As luck has it's way, a youtube video of pilot BEARING being removed using grease. Check out 'Theetravisb' youtube titled 'Old to new inline 6 engine swap 1948 Chevy gets a rebuilt motor.' from 1:43:05 to 2:04:15.
